The driver for the default printer UMPrinter is installed on UM computers that have a Windows operating system. Follow this instruction if you want to install the default driver on a Linux system.
- Right-click on this link.
- Select [Save Link as] and save the file cnadvc5550iiix1.ppd locally.
- Click [System]→ [Administration] → [Printing].
- Click [Server]→ [New]→[Printer].
- Enter the root password in the [Authenticate] window. Then, confirm the password.
- Open the [Network Printer] list and select [LPD/LPR Host or Printer].
- In the [Location of the LPD network printer] fields:
- Enter the following text the [Host] field: UM-ID@um-vm0112.unimaas.nl
For a single user system: replace the generic login name by your personal login name. When you only send a print job, you can pick up your prints at a printer.
For a multi user system: log in with your personal login. The administrator should leave out the login name@ part of the hostname. When sending a print job, the print system will then use your username (through environment variable CUPS_USER or USER) to make sure that only you can pick up your prints at a printer.
- In the [Queue] field enter the following text: UM_Printer_Linux
- Enter the following text the [Host] field: UM-ID@um-vm0112.unimaas.nl
- Click [Forward].
- Select [Provide PPD file] and browse to the saved .ppd file.
- Click [Forward].
- Select the Installable Options as shown below:
- Click [Forward].
- In the [Describe printer] screen:
- In the [Printer Name] field enter: UM_Printer_Linux
- in the [Description] field enter: Canon-printer
- In the [Location] field enter: UM
- Click [Apply].
- The printer driver installation is completed.
